Job Description

Did this year’s gerrymandering crisis make you want to fight back for fair and representative electoral maps? Are you a grassroots fundraising expert who’s committed to a democracy where people choose their politicians, not the other way around? If so, this might be the perfect job for you. Join the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC) and its affiliated organizations as our Grassroots Fundraising Director to lead and grow our transformative fundraising strategy to empower our mission.

The Grassroots Fundraising Director leads the organization’s digital fundraising (email, SMS, ads) and direct marketing programs (mail, telemarketing), helping the team maximize its reach and efforts. This position requires strong communication skills, an ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and effective management of direct reports and vendors. This role is perfect for someone with 5+ years of grassroots fundraising leadership experience, who loves diving deep into data and strategy but never loses sight of the human impact behind the numbers.

Why Join Us?

At NDRC, you'll be part of a dedicated team working towards fair and equitable redistricting. You'll have the opportunity to lead meaningful grassroots fundraising initiatives while working and collaborating with fantastic colleagues in a supportive and dynamic environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Grassroots Fundraising Strategy: You’ll set and drive grassroots fundraising goals and strategy in coordination with external fundraising vendors and organizational leadership.
  • Grassroots Messaging Strategy: You’ll develop and maintain cohesive grassroots messaging that aligns with organizational goals, engages supporters, and motivates action.
  • Team Management: You’ll be responsible for the hiring, development, and performance of direct reports, and maintaining a positive and supportive team culture.
  • Vendor Management: You’ll take the lead on negotiating contracts, managing relationships, and advising vendors on strategy and organizational voice.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: You’ll partner closely with our political, advocacy, development, and communications teams to coordinate fundraising efforts and support organization-wide goals.

Other Information:

  • Location: Washington, DC preferred. The team primarily operates remotely, with occasional travel for in-person meetings, team retreats, etc. The organization has a physical office located in downtown Washington, DC that local staff are welcome to work from.
  • Salary: This is a full-time, FLSA exempt position, with a starting salary of $135,000 per year, commensurate with years of relevant fundraising experience.
  • Benefits: Paid time off, a 401(k) program with a 4% match, a stipend for cell phone use, health care (covered 100%  for employee and 85% for employee-covered dependents), and employer-paid dental and vision coverage.
  • Deadline: Position will remain open until filled. Candidates who apply by the end of day on Monday, November 16 will be prioritized.
  • Timeline: Interviews will happen on a rolling basis with a preferred start date in early or mid-January 2027.
  • Affiliate Structure: NDRC is affiliated with the Redistricting Action, a 501(c)(4) organization, which is affiliated with the National Redistricting Foundation (NRF), a 501(c)(3) organization. Payroll and benefits are administered via Redistricting Action.
